Launched in September 1974 with a ‘maxi-single’ of Gene Vincent Radio 1 sessions, the BBC Records entry into the pop music scene with BEEB Records was initially a great success. The brainchild of Roy Tempest it may have suffered a a little when he left the BBC under a cloud.

It’s moderately interesting to find the BBC Records’ release The Best of Disney Time (REB 217) was claimed as a BEEB release in the tenth-anniversary piece in Music Week (1st November 1975). Presumabley it was switched back to the main label at some point before release and although the article refers to it being released in the previous month but was probably being written in the past tense for future publishing dates. Junior Choice (BEMP 002, 1978) was previewed and is another kid-friendly release containing licensed material, although it would take two-three more years to appear.
